About the Role

Do you want to help create a safe and sustainable working environment with a focus on laboratory safety? We offer a key role at the Department of Engineering Science and Mathematics, where you will be part of the operational support and work for all our subject areas.

As an Occupational Safety Coordinator for Laboratory Safety, you will be a central person in coordinating, developing, and driving the department's occupational safety and security work. The role includes physical safety in laboratories, machine safety, radiation safety, and environmental aspects related to laboratory activities. You will support lab managers, subject representatives, and department heads in laboratory safety work.

The work involves both strategic and operational tasks. You will have overall responsibility for coordinating, planning, implementing, and following up on safety rounds and fire safety rounds at both laboratories and offices, in collaboration with relevant parties in the department. Additionally, you will contribute to developing routines and working methods to create a safe and efficient working environment.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A relevant academic education in occupational safety, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or a related field. You may be an occupational safety engineer, chemical engineer, or mechanical engineer, or have equivalent experience that we assess as comparable.
  • Practical experience in occupational safety and laboratory work.
  • Good ability to work in a structured and administrative manner.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • Chemical handling (practical work with chemical products).
    • Machine safety (operation of equipment, pressure devices, gas).
    • Occupational and environmental legislation in laboratory environments.

Meritorious

  • Experience from laboratory work in industry or academia.
  • Experience working with research collaborations.
  • Experience in risk assessments and safety rounds in laboratory environments.

Who are you?

To succeed in this role, it is important that you are an independent team player who enjoys collaborating with different professional groups. You are structured and have an administrative flair, while being solution-oriented and analytical in your work. It is important to stay updated on regulations, routines, and communicate them in a supportive and preventive manner to those responsible.

Furthermore, we see that you are attentive and have a good ability to create and maintain relationships. Since the work involves communicating safety and occupational health issues to different target groups, it is important that you are pedagogical and confident in your communication, both in Swedish and English.

We Offer

We offer an exciting and developing role where you will be an important part of our work for a safe and sustainable working environment in our laboratories.
